Welcome message from APIS

Welcome to 20th APIS (Asia Pacific Implant Society) in Seoul, Korea

Prof, Tetsu Takahashi,
Secretary General, PPIS
Professor and Chairman, Div. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,
Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry, Sendai, Japan

It is our great pleasure to announce that 20th APIS (Asian Pacific Implant Society) will be held in Seoul, Korea on Feburary 19, 2022 by Webinar. This society was originally established to promote reliable oral implant therapy that is affirmed by academics in the Pan-Pacific area, centered in East Asia and named PPIS (Pan Pacific Implant Society). It is a platform where the experts in this region exchange ideas for advancing our field. The first PPIS conference was held in November, 2002 at Seoul, Korea. From that time, PPIS has developed tremendously, including many countries such as Taiwan and India. An Epoc-making notice is that PPIS has changed its name to APIS from this year. Current President of APIS, Prof. Jun-Young Paeng at Samsung Medical Center is my old friend and is one of the top runners of the advanced maxillofacial surgery and implant dentistry in Korea. This time, 20th APIS will be held in conjunction with Winter Implant Focus Meeting of KAOMS (Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons). I am very pleased that KAOMS greatly supported PPIS.

COVID-19 is still prevalent all over the world. Therefore, it is a little bid pity that 20th APIS will be held by Webinar. None the less, I hope this 20th APIS will have a great success and make a benchmark for secure and successful oral and maxillofacial implant therapy in Asian Pacific countries. I also hope that APIS will spread a lot of new information concerning oral and maxillofacial implant therapy to the World.
